Notts County youth team moved into the third round of the Youth Alliance Cup with a 2-0 win over their Grimsby Town counterparts.
It was the young Magpies’ fifth consecutive win in all competitions, which was secured courtesy of goals from Elliott Hodge and Glodie Bange.
Elliott opened the scoring with a powerful drive after 20 minutes, before Bange doubled Notts’ advantage 16 minutes later with a fine finish from the edge of the box.
Youth team coach Brett Adams was full of praise for his side at the final whistle.
He told the official site: “It was a very professional performance, the shape was brilliant and the discipline was top class.
“It was a fully deserved victory, as they never stopped working or battling, and played some good stuff.
“For any team to win five on the bounce is a big achievement and all of the players and staff are proud.
“We’ve got to aim to take this form into the New Year now, as we’re in two cup competitions and have a good opportunity to climb the league.”
