Yoann Can Be Our 20-Goal Man

6 December 2012

Coach Colin West has every faith that frontman Yoann Arquin has what it takes to be County’s 20-goal striker this term.

Arquin found the net with a stunning volley in the weekend’s 1-1 draw with npower League 2 high flyers Rotherham United in the FA Cup with Budweiser.

The Frenchman, who arrived from Hereford United in the summer, now has seven goals to his name and is currently the Magpies’ leading marksman.

Former Rangers striker Colin West believes that the way that Notts play is a dream for any forward player to be a part of.

He feels that if the team can continue to carve out opportunities, Arquin and his fellow forward players can continue to thrive in front of goal.

“You want to take the pressure off them but obviously look for them to get more strikes at goal and get on the end of things,” said West.

“We’ve got to keep him going and keep getting him into the right areas and we’re sure he’ll get his double figures and beyond.

“Everybody should be looking that way, especially the strikers and frontmen.

“They should be setting themselves a target without putting it out to the press.

“I’m sure inside their selves they’ll have little targets and little goals that they set themselves.”

Notts are currently the third highest goal-scorers in npower League 1 and 12 different players have found the net across all competitions.

The likes of Lee Hughes (5), Neal Bishop (5), Francois Zoko (5), Alan Judge (4), Jamal Campbell-Ryce (4) and Jeff Hughes (3) have also chipped in with regular strikes.

West has been pleased to see so many members of the squad getting off the mark.

“If you look at it, we’ve scored goals from all different parts of the field,” he said.

“Midfield players and widemen are getting on the scoresheet now.

“It’s ideal if you can get players different sections of the field scoring goals, then you’re not just relying on one person.”

Notts will take on Yeovil Town at Huish Park this Saturday, with tickets available from www.nottscountydirect.co.uk
