Manager impressed by his team's style in Pools victory...
Keith Curle was pleased with how his side coped in difficult conditions to claim a 2-0 win over Hartlepool United.
Heavy rain showers placed Tuesday night’s fixture in doubt, as certain areas of the pitch became increasingly waterlogged.
Despite the surface being hampered, especially in the first half prior to some pitch maintenance by the ground staff during the interval, the Magpies continued to keep the ball on the deck, playing some attractive attacking football.
“Right from the off we tried to play football at the right tempo and in the right manner,” Curle told Magpie Player.
“We stuck to our beliefs but with a little bit of caution because we knew there were some damp areas.
“I think the pitch held up well and it was draining by the second as soon as the rain stopped.
“I think it’s important now - yes we’ve got the result – that the preparation is straight onto Walsall.”
Goals from Francois Zoko and Neal Bishop secured three points for Notts, making it six points from six after the first two fixtures.
Zoko, who has now netted in the first two league matches, was withdrawn from the action in the first half but Curle is hopeful that the forward will make a speedy recovery.
He said: “We were uncertain and then it started to cramp up so as a precaution he’s come off.
“It’s the right thing to do when you’ve got a squad of our size.
“We’re nursing him through and we know we’ve got 44 games left and he’ll be available to play a big part of our season, I think.”
