The gaffer has no issues in waiting for the loan window to open...
Keith Curle is happy to wait until the loan market becomes available again before adding new faces to the squad.
The first team manager does not expect any more arrivals before tonight’s 11pm transfer deadline but he may swoop when the loan window re-opens in a week’s time.
12 new players have been added to the Meadow Lane ranks since the end of last season and Curle is keen to ensure that any further recruitments are the right fit for the squad.
“We’re going to wait for the loan market but it’s not a case of not being bothered,” said Curle on Magpie Player.
“We’re mindful that it’s got to be the right people, the right price, and they’ve got to have the right ability to step into our football team.
“To be honest, with the loan market and the Premier League squads being announced, we can try to get players that aren’t in their 25s.
“Obviously we’re competing with the middle and bottom end of the Championship, whereby people deem us to be a worthy contender to get into the Championship.
“We’re trying to pick up the right sort of talent, not people that want to come here to gain experience, they’ve got to come here and play well.
He continued: “There are some quality, talented young players that aren’t going to be getting the football that they need for their development at their parent clubs.
“Hopefully we’ll be able to capitalise on that.”
