Champions Test

10 August 2012

A look ahead to the youth team's season opener on Saturday morning...

Notts County youth team could not face a tougher opening to their league campaign this weekend.

The young Magpies travel to the Ideal Standard Training Ground to take on Hull City, who ended last season as champions of the North East Youth Alliance.

Youth team coach Brett Adams has been pleased with his side’s pre-season preparations and is looking forward to seeing how the players match up to last year’s table toppers.

He told Magpie Player: “Hull are a great team with a lot of good players and some fantastic coaches.

“It’s always exciting for us to play against them to see if we can test ourselves against the best, so to speak.

“We’re looking forward to the challenge ahead and hopefully it’ll go well for us.”

He continued: “We’re pleased to be getting the season underway, and we’ve got no expectations other than for the lads to give 110 per cent and work for each other and try to put some of the stuff we’ve been working on at the training ground into practice.

“We can see the progression from the start of pre-season to now, the lads are fitter and stronger.

“Hopefully if we do the right things and stick to the plan, a good game will be had by all of our lads.”
