AEK Athens Update

6 August 2012

Club regrettably not in a position to offer discounts...

Notts County would like to thank the near 2,000 supporters who attended Meadow Lane for the pre-season friendly match against AEK Athens on Sunday afternoon.

With the crowd housed solely in the Derek Pavis Stand, a mix of passionate home support and a fervent pocket of Athens fans made for a fantastic atmosphere in the build-up and throughout the first half of the ill-fated first home match of the summer.

The club were as disappointed as anyone to see the game eventually abandoned at half time, after a torrential downpour of rain towards the end of the first half and throughout the interval, although we fully endorse the referee in his decision to call the game off, which was the only sensible option available at the time.

Unfortunately, due to the expense incurred in staging the match, the club are not in a position to offer a refund on tickets purchased for this game, but hope that the entertainment offered up in the 45 minutes that were played did offer value for money at the reduced ticket prices.

Notts led the game 1-0 at half time, thanks to a well-taken goal by Alan Judge 17 minutes in and had looked good to build on their advantage in the second half before nature intervened.

Keith Curle’s men will be back in action on Tuesday evening, when we play host to Nottingham Forest here at Meadow Lane, with tickets on sale now both online and from the ticket office.
