A Squad Game

11 August 2012

Manager excited about how his squad is coming together...

Every player has a part to play this season, says first team manager Keith Curle.

Curle has added Carl Regan and Tom Williams to his ranks ahead of today’s Capital One Cup match against Bradford City, taking the number of new arrivals to 12 this summer.

The Notts boss is still looking to add further fresh faces in the coming weeks as he continues to assemble a squad capable of battling it out at the top of League 1.

He told Magpie Player: “I think we’re about three players away from me being happy but I think we’re looking closer towards the end of August when I can say that the squad will be finalised.

“Ideally everyone would have their squad finalised before you get into July but I’m a realist and I know that players have had other options.

“Likewise with myself, most of the targets I’ve gone for we’ve managed to get and acquire.”

He added: “There’s been a lot of hard work that’s gone into pre-season, a lot of comings and goings at the football club, and it’s going to be interesting to see how they all gel together.

“I know it’s a long season, and we’ve got a small squad but a very capable squad, whereby we’ve got 20, 21 players - hopefully going to be 22, 23 - that at the drop of a hat will be able to play.

“It’s going to be a squad that makes the club successful this season.”
