We secured a home play-off eliminator against Chesterfield despite a frustrating 1-0 defeat at Bromley.
After enjoying near-total dominance in the first half, with Kyle Wootton hitting the bar early on and a host of other opportunities passing us by, we went into the break level.
Ian Burchnall was forced into a change at half-time as the injured Jake Reeves made way for Enzio Boldewijn and, with Ruben Rodrigues dropping into midfield, we failed to maintain control of the game and came under pressure from a home side determined to win to secure their place in the play-offs.
And, shortly after the hour, the home side made us pay for our lack of ruthlessness as Ben Williamson turned the ball beyond Sam Slocombe after one of his team-mates had hit the post.
We twice came close to an equaliser when Rodrigues saw a shot saved and Miller's follow-up was cleared off the line.
But the hosts were denied by Slocombe and hit the woodwork themselves on what proved to be a frustrating afternoon in Kent.
NOTTS STARTING XI: Slocombe; Chicksen, Ellis, Rawlinson; Miller (Sam 76'), Brindley; Doyle, O'Brien, Reeves (Boldewijn 46'); Rodrigues (Griffiths 88'), Wootton
UNUSED SUBS: Turner, Kelly-Evans
