The new beer was launched at the Embankment pub & kitchen, by Castle Rock Brewery, as part of a long-running Nottinghamian Celebration Ales Series, to raise a glass to local heroes past and present as well as money for good causes.
Vicky's Golden Summer Ale (4.2% and £3.60 a pint) was created to match her own tastes and to "complement warm sunny evenings".
Life-long Notts County fan, Vicky asked for part of the drinks' sales to be donated to Football in the Community, as well as her own Dementia Choir. Part of a launch event included an informal meet and greet experience with Vicky and a charity auction, the evening was hosted by the BBC’s very own Mark Dennison.
"It’s a really nice incentive they do here at the brewery, having a pint named, and it’s always in association with a charity," says Vicky, who isn’t a big drinker herself, and will happily go out as the designated driver.
"I work with Notts County's Football In The Community and they do a lot of work with people living with mental health issues across Nottingham, so everything is kind of interlinked."
Vicky also brought along a few very special posters to be auctioned on the evening, alongside a signed ball and shirt from NCFC kindly donated by the Lifeline committee, to help raise funds for FITC and Dementia Choir.
Notts County FC Football in the Community CEO Ian Boyd said “its great to be partnering again with both Castlerock Brewery and Vicky, they have both proven important local partners and friends of FITC. It was good to be able to celebrate Vicky’s local connection, Castlerock’s innovative expertise, with being able to raise money for local communities.”
