FITC have a ball at the Annual Charity bash!

19 November 2018

On Thursday 15th November, the great and the good of Nottingham came together to celebrate another great year for Notts County Football in the Community, and in the process raise much needed funds to support the continuation of our work.

The 1862 suite at Meadow Lane was festooned with balloons, the fizz was poured and the musicians strumming away as our suited and booted guests arrived

Our trustee and BBC Radio Nottingham legend Colin Slater kicked off proceedings by welcoming all the guests, and then handed over to our able hosts, former Olympic swimmers Jo Jackson and Alan Rapley. It was up to them to keep the evening moving along, with lots of great stories to tell, and great prizes to be won.

Throughout the night we heard heart-warming stories from our participants an supporters: the CARE crew who have formed an unbreakable bond in their regular exercise sessions; the musician Rob Green telling his why he is proud to be an ambassador for our mental health programmes, and NCS staff member Jarrod explaining what a difference our programme makes to young people’s lives.

In between mouth-watering courses, excitement built in the room as our auction kicked off. There was fierce bidding for Vicky McClure’s signed This is England print, a signed Manchester United football raised £210 and a bidding war broke out between two tables for the chance to play against a team of Notts County FC Legends. Graciously, the legends agreed to let both tables have a match, and double the money was secured to support our vital projects.

When the last raffle prize was collected, the last tea and coffee served and the plates cleared, all that was left was for Rob Green to take to the stage once more and entertain our crowd, which he did with style, getting people up on their feet dancing and even joining in with some soulful call and response sing-alongs!

A massive thank you to everyone who attended or supported us with this event – it really helped us to communicate what we’re all about, raising the profile and some money for the charity. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!

A huge thank you to all our partners who donated prizes for our auction, special mention to Experience Days who donated a gift voucher to be used on one of their experince days, to find our more information on what days they offer please click here
