Premier League Primary Stars
Premier League Primary Stars is a programme designed to inspire children to learn, be active and develop important life skills. The programme helps to enhance the provision of PE and support pupils’ educational attainment in other curriculum areas.
Our Premier League Primary Stars package entitles you to a lunch club, assembly and collapsed curriculum day in addition to two coaches who will work with two separate classes simultaneously. Curriculum sessions will be split into two sessions – PE lessons and classroom support.
Through Primary Stars, we can offer 1, 2, or 3 term options. All options include the delivery of PE by our AfPE qualified coaches, there is also the opportunity to have the coaches working in the classroom. We have found this to be extremely motivational for the pupils, particular those that tend to be less engaged in the classroom setting.
During PE lessons our coaches will support staff with their knowledge and understanding of delivering PE. This is a school led programme designed to meet the needs of each individual teacher. Once areas for development are identified teachers will have the opportunity to observe, team-teach and lead PE lessons with the support of the coach.
Our staff will be pleased to support the classroom sessions as you wish. This could be supporting with the delivery of a lesson led by the teacher or alternatively our coaches can lead PLPS PSHE lessons, PL Reading Stars and the Move and Learn Project.
Premier League Reading Stars
Premier League Reading Stars (PLRS), developed with the National Literacy Trust, is a targeted reading intervention programme for pupils from Years 5 or 6 who are reluctant readers or reading below expected levels.
Over 10 weeks, the programme gives children the opportunity to practise their reading skills, including reading for enjoyment, comprehension and inference, using football-related resources and texts. It can also be used to boost those children who are already able readers but who do not enjoy reading and so make slower progress than they are capable of. Please watch the video below to get a sense of the impact this programme can have.
The PSHE Association have worked with the Premier League to write a series of PSHE packs to enable teachers to develop pupils’ essential skills and attributes. Learning is connected to the real world of sport to enthuse pupils when tackling challenging PSHE topics such as resilience, diversity, self-esteem and fair-play. This is delivered to a whole class as part of our overall Primary Stars delivery.
As part of our Primary Stars package, you have access to opportunities such as assemblies, themed curriculum days, tournaments and festivals, stadium tours, and player and mascot appearances. Please enquire for more information.
Tailored to your requirements, we can deliver extra-curricular clubs covering a range of sports or physical activity themes.
