Tempest was offered a professional contract at Meadow Lane following two impressive years in the Magpies’ youth team.
The creative midfielder, who is comfortable in the centre or on the left, has strong links with the club as the grandson of Notts legend Bill Corkhill.
Corkhill made 284 league appearances for Notts either side of the Second World War.
Tempest officially followed in his grandfather's footsteps, when he was introduced as a substitute in the March 2013 fixture with Scunthorpe United at Meadow Lane.
A week later, in a 0-0 draw away at Swindon Town, he made his full debut and impressed over 60 minutes at the County Ground.
Tempest's continued progress was highlighted by his call-up to the Northern Ireland under-21 squad during the close season.
