The club has now given away all 100 nebulisers as part of the 100 Years at Meadow Lane celebrations.

Kindly donated by Hillside Medical Supplies, the machinery, used to administer medication in the form of a mist inhaled into the lungs, is commonly used for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, asthma and other respiratory diseases.

Nurses from the Respiratory Wards at the City Hospital and more from the Southwell Ward were handed 30 nebulisers.

The contribution will ensure that more people throughout Nottinghamshire will be able to gain easier access to the treatment and it could save a number of lives.

"They will be invaluable," said Brian Rorison COPD Nurse Specialist in the City of Nottingham.

"We have a number of patients in the city who often get poorly and we loan them nebulisers, because people in areas like St Ann's, Meadows and Clifton can't afford them.

"To give these out to patients to help their breathing is a big help, because on a day-to-day basis their breathing is a constant problem.

"It would have been a case of struggling or using them selectively but it certainly gives us far more flexibility and it'll be a valuable addition for that.

"Sometimes you have to be reliant on charitable donations and it's a wonderful thing that Hillside Medical Supplies and Notts County have done."

Joy Sharpe, Managing Director of Hilliside Medical Supplies, who was responsible for the giveaway added: "It's great to see the nebulisers going to people that can really benefit from them.

"This is what the appeal is all about and we are considering running something along the same lines next year."

Supporters and staff took up the rest of the nebulisers on Saturday ahead of the Yeovil Town match from the newly refurbished First Aid Room.
