The Supporters Club Fooball Team are playing in the Stanley Heames Cup on Sunday, September 5 to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

The competition is being held at Copsewood, Allard Way, Coventry CV3 1HS, near the Alan Higgs Centre and starts at 1pm.

The team would certainly appreciate any supporters coming along to support the lads.

Nine other clubs will be competing, and Spurs, Coventry and Blackburn have already registered their interest in playing.

Iris Smith from the Supporters Club has been detailed with the progression of the side.

She said: "We asked via the Official Site and Notts County Mad for volunteers to form a team representing the fans of Notts County Football Club.  

"We were not disappointed, with probably around 30 people showing an interest.

"Alan Higgott and Stewart Pulford started training sessions on the Embankment and found a few hidden talents and some real characters!

"We arranged a friendly against the Notts Media and Ticket Office team and won 3-1, but we were not so lucky in our next run out and lost badly.

"After six or seven weeks watching the lads train, I really feel we can make our presence felt and will certainly put in a good show.

"It would be lovely to win the competition and I see no reason why we can't."

She added: "The club have kindly lent the kit for us to play in, and the lads are looking forward to pulling on the black and whites stripes and representing their club."
