After the amazing success of the Notts County's running team last season where 36 fans ran over the finishing line in the Sport Relief 3-mile race and raised over £2,300 in the process, the team have re-grouped and hope to complete the Nottingham half-marathon on September 12.

The group are running for the Huntington's Disease Association as one of our runner's has recently discovered that a close family member has the disease.

It is a devastating incurable condition which can effect the mental capacity of the sufferer, as well as their personality and physical ability. It is a relatively rare condition, and research is being carried out currently, but more funding is needed to bring this forward.

The research could also help similar conditions such as Alzhimers and Parkinsons.

Notts fan Ben Shepherd who came up with the idea to run the course said: "I went along to watch the team at the Sports relief race and it was great to see more Notts shirts than Forest ones!

"After the race someone jokingly mentioned about doing the half marathon, and it's snow-balled from there."

"Unfortunately I'm not going to get the chance to play for Notts, so this is the next best thing! Any support will be greatly appreciated as I struggle round the course!"

Steve Shepherd said: "I have not run more than 5 miles since 1980 and have dodgy cartilages from old football injuries but will give it a go. I will be proud to wear the black and white and hope it will get me to the finish."
