Notts County Director Luke Jones was happy to support The Road To Rio campaign as it stopped off at Meadow Lane on a 15-mile walk around Nottingham to help raise awareness and funds to help the homeless.
The Nottingham leg of the project, organised by the Salvation Army, was held on Thursday, with walkers setting off from Sneinton at around 10am and calling in at numerous sporting locations and homeless agencies around the city, including Meadow Lane.
Jones said: "I think it's a fantastic campaign to support. Notts are happy to help to raise awareness and funds for the homeless.
"I would like to wish everyone involved good luck and I hope the people from Nottingham dig deep for the cause. The work they do to help promote football in the homeless sector is fantastic."
On Monday three men set off to walk from London to Edinburgh to raise funds so that homeless and disadvantaged people from all over the world can attend this year's Homeless World Cup tournament in Rio de Janeiro to be held in September.
Events have already taken place in London, Luton and Leicester and after the walk around Nottingham, the project moves on to Manchester, Liverpool, Newcastle and finally Edinburgh on the 20th July.
Football Coach Jon Regler is facing the challenge of a lifetime as he gears up to do eight walks in eight cities spanning from London to Edinburgh.
Jon, 44, is usually seen coaching Homeless lads in Oxford for Streets Revolution, but on July 12th he will be walking over 100 miles to raise money for The Homeless World Cup.
He said: "I am hoping that people can join us on the day in each city to support us and help us raise the money to get as many players to the World Cup in Rio as possible.
"These people rely on us to get them there because no one else has come forward to sponsor their national team."
It is a mammoth task for the walkers and it could all be in vain if they fail to raise enough money to get players to the Homeless World Cup in Rio.
