Youth Team Fail To Tame Tigers

Posted on: Sat 21 Aug 2010

2009/10 Youth Alliance champions Hull City beat Notts County Youth Team this morning in a closely fought encounter.

3-1 was the overall scoreline but Michael Johnson's side gave a very good account of themselves.

The visitors opened the scoring from a corner, though arms were raised in protest over a push on Notts stopper Liam Mitchell.

County dominated the rest of the first 45 but it wasn't until after the break that it paid off.

From 20 yards out, tough tackling midfielder Alex Troke made space to rifle into the bottom corner.

However, Hull took the lead again shortly from a free-kick, after the Notts backline failed to clear their lines.

The match became a scrappy battle as Notts attempted to claw themselves back onto level terms.

But the game was put to bed when a smart move from a throw-in led to the Tigers' third.

The young Magpies travel away to Chesterfield next weekend as they look to get back to winning ways.
