The next Notts County Super Fan

Posted on: Tue 08 Jun 2010

Rob, Natty, Kim and Jayme have all been nominated to be a Notts County Super Fan. The next supporter to join the list of this unique group was chosen by various fellow fans.

Joshua James Shore has been a Notts fan since 1999, just after the club had won the title with Sam Allardyce. Joshua is widely known for his photography skills which he then shares with other Notts fans.

He said: "The reason I take photos at the matches, is so the supporters who can't make it do the games get to see where Notts' have been as well as making them feel they was there.

"I enjoy taking them so I can look back over the years where i've been and showing them to friends and family and giving me feedback on them."

The 18-year-old strangely hated football when he first came to watch Notts face Huddersfield Town.

He said: "I wasn't a big football fan to be honest, I think it's fair to say I hated it in fact. I remember a friend called Steve Pilcher ringing up and asking me if I wanted to go to a Notts County game, and after that I was hooked."

Joshua also remembers his first away match vividly. He said "We won it late on from a Danny Allsopp penalty.

"I would like to thank Steve for taking me to my first Notts game, and also bringing my friends to the games as well, as they now go week in week out too. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't support Notts."

The student is quite humble when asked about his nominations. He said: "I wouldn't call myself a 'super fan' as I just watch my local team play as all other football league supporters do.

"Anyone who watches their local team is a super fan in my eyes. I take videos for our over-seas fans and Notts fans in general who can't make it to the games for one reason or another."

Joshua hasn't missed a home league match 2002 where we faced Northampton and an away match since 2005. He adds: "Unfortunately Steve was ill that match, but I haven't missed a match since.

"I would like to give special thanks to the Supporters club chair Iris Smith, and Premier travel for making it possible for me to make the games I go to."

The season ticket holder has been going to matches with friends Russ and Scott for over ten years.

He said sadly: "I have been a season ticket holder since 2000, and have seen us relegated to league 2. There has not been too much for me to cheer to be honest, as we all know, it's been awful in the last 10 years.

"I have seen us finish in the top half of Division 2 (League 1 now) twice and 8 times in the bottom half in League 1 and League 2. I might be a bad jinx to the club!"

Despite the heart-ache from the past ten years there have been many highlights. He said: "

Besides meeting some fantastic people at Notts in the last 10 years, it has to be seeing Notts County play infront of over 16,000 against Huddersfield, the great escape season.

The Great Escape

"The atmosphere our fans can make is fantastic even with 7000 fans in we make more noise than Nottingham Forest who get 22'000 and that's something we can be proud of.
Joshua states that his favourite player are two Notts County legends - Mark Stallard and Mike Edwards.

Joshua describes the striker as 'one of the best goal scorers down the Lane in the past 10 years'. He also has great faith in central defender Mike Edwards. Joshua said: ''You can tell he loves playing for the club, and this promotion should be for him'.

Congratulations to Joshua - we salute you. We also thank you for the help you gave the club when producing the end of season DVD.

We are always looking for more fans to get in touch and tell there story. Feel free to nominate your own nomination to be the next Notts County Super Fan.
