Much-travelled Jamie agreed to join the Magpies in June 2008, ended his two-year association with Lincoln City in favour of a move to Nottingham.
The acute shortage of goals from strikers was Notts' major problem last season and Manager Ian McParland believed the signing of Forrester would go a long way towards ensuring there was no repeat this term.
Bradford-born, Forrester has served a long list of clubs in this country and has also had European experience with Auxerre and FC Utrecht.
He was a member of Leeds United's FA Youth Cup winning team in 1993 and scored more than a century of goals for Scunthorpe, Northampton, Hull and Bristol Rovers before joining Lincoln in 2005.
Since then, he has taken his total of League goals to 140 in almost 500 games - and he firmly believes there are plenty more to come.
