Young defender Jason joined the Magpies on an initial three-month loan from Championship side Derby County in July 2008.
The youngster, who is a product of the Rams' Academy, is at home at right back but can also perform at left back if required.
He made his Derby debut last season in the Carling Cup and is using his time at Meadow Lane to gain valuable first-team experience.
His impressive performances at the start of the season saw his loan extended until January 2009 in August.
