Adam joined Notts County in the summer of 2008, linking up with Ian McParland who he worked with during his days with Nottingham Forest.
The midfielder has endured a frustrating few years with injuries, but is determined to use his switch to Meadow Lane as fresh opportunity to put his past behind him.
Nowland began his career as a trainee at Blackpool, where he made 81 appearances before playing in the Championship with MK Dons and West Ham.
He spent a season with Forest before moving on to Preston, and has also had loan spells at Gillingham and Stockport.
