Hoult joined Notts County on a two-year contract in the summer of 2008 after an impressive 14-game loan the previous season.
He played a massive part in the fight to avoid relegation by keeping seven clean sheets and enjoyed the experience so much that he teamed up with the Magpies permanently.
Beginning his career with Leicester City, the stopper enjoyed loan spells with Blackpool, Lincoln, Bolton and Derby before signing for the Derby County on a permanent basis in 1995.
After more than 100 appearances for the Rams he joined Portsmouth and then later West Bromwich Albion where he enjoyed plenty of success as part of a tight defensive unit that guided the Baggies into the Premier League.
He had a brief spell with Nottingham Forest on loan before moving to Stoke in 2007 where he made just two appearances before joining Notts.
A troublesome shoulder injury saw Hoult miss the back end of the 2008/09 campaign before returning to action this season.
Following the arrival of Kasper Schmeichel, he spent a month with Darlington.
