Making Meadow Lane a fortress again this year will be key to the team's success in League 1.

Notts thumped Yeovil Town 4-0 at the weekend and produced the best performance of the season so far.

This lifted the Magpies to 12th in the table, only three points adrift of table toppers Sheffield Wednesday.

Although it is too early to look at the standings this early on, Craig Short is delighted with the manner in which his side has bounced back from a shaky start to the season.

"We've just got to focus on us and the home form is so important," he said to Magpie Player.

"It was a big day for the club with the 100 year celebrations and there were some really good performances out there.

"We won't always get things our own way this year, last year was probably a little too easy at times.

"We've got 10 new signings and they're having to bed in - there's plenty of competition now on that bench.

"I'm pleased for them because they've had a bit of pressure heaped on them, but there's a good spirit amongst them and we want to do well for this club because we care about this club."

Next up is a trip to Charlton Athletic at the weekend and the Magpies have been priced at 11/4 by Coral to win.
