Kevin Smith may be given another chance to display what he can do tonight in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

Notts travel to Hillsborough to take on npower League 1 table toppers Sheffield Wednesday for a 7.45pm kick-off.

23-year-old Smith netted the winning goal in the Carling Cup against Watford and followed it up with a last-gasp leveller away at Bournemouth.

And Manager Craig Short is taking note of the Scotsman's impact, not just in matches but training, as well.

"He's a tireless worker, brave and although he's not the biggest, but he gets hold of the ball and draws a lot of fouls and free kicks," Short told Magpie Player ahead of tonight's fixture.

"He's deserved his goals in these last two games and he deserves his chance.

"He's only young and his attitude in training is incredible, he just pushes himself and pushes himself and he never complains about not being I n the side."
