Last gasp goal scorer Kevin Smith is determined to become a regular in the starting 11.

The forward has definitely staked his claim in the last two matches, netting the winner against Watford in the Carling Cup and a late leveller in the emotional 3-3 draw with Bournemouth at the weekend.

Smith was thrilled to have scored again but revealed that he has to continue to make that kind of impact to stay in the team.

"To come away with a point, I think everyone was relieved, especially after the start we had," he told Magpie Player.

"To come back it shows a lot of character and I was delighted.

"When I get on the park I've got to do my bit, it's a big squad so when I get my chance, I've got to take it."
