Two disappointing 3-0 defeats, against Huddersfield and Oldham, had preceded the 1-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge.

Manager Craig Short was pleased to have shut out the Daggers and picked out his two centre-backs, Mike Edwards and Graeme Lee, for added praise.

He said: "I was pleased with the back lads, because they had a lot of crosses and aerial balls coming in, and Eddy and Spike were tremendous.

"I appreciate that, the little touches they get, they're dominant from set-pieces and that's an important part of the game."

He added: "I was just pleased with us, because we stepped up in the second half, whereas in the first half we never got going really."
