Goal Settled Us

Posted on: Mon 23 Aug 2010

Craig Westcarr's match winning strike helped to settle the nerves, according to hard working midfielder John Spicer.

Westcarr netted in the 53rd minute, enabling Notts to pick up the season's first win, following two 3-0 defeats.

Spicer felt that it was the kind of game where the team had to scrap and that the most important thing was to pick up the points.

He explained: "We needed the three points after the first two league games but Dagenham came to work hard.

"We knew we had to grind it out and be patient, and once we got the goal that settled us down.

"I think we could've got one or two more at the end.

"It's hard because when you're at home and teams are sitting in, you get frustrated and you do things that you don't normally do.

"Once we got that goal, that was when we started to create the chances."
