Defender Graeme Lee believes that the players need to stand up and be counted, following the defeat to Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

The former Doncaster man was part of the back four that conceded three goals against a very strong attacking outfit.

But he feels that the players need to compose themselves in the coming games to ensure that they make up for a disappointing afternoon at Meadow Lane.

"We knew they were going to be a strong team and one of the favourites to go up but we needed to be a lot more solid and stronger, and braver on the ball," said Lee.

"We didn't seem to pass it or do anything that we'd worked on, we just let them in the game too easily and we didn't show a good account of ourselves in the opening game.

"We've got to put this right now and show that we are going to be a strong, contending team in this league.

"We'll start with that in the cup on Tuesday night."

Notts travel to Plymouth Argyle in the Carling Cup on Tuesday, August 10 for a 7.45pm kick-off.
