Perfect For The Club

Posted on: Fri 06 Aug 2010

Former Magpies captain Rob Ullathorne has backed Manager Craig Short to become a hit at Meadow Lane.

Short took control of the team in the summer and has brought in a number of faces in preparation for the upcoming season in League 1.

Ullathorne is familiar with the Notts chief from his playing days and has wished him all the best in his new role.

He said: "I've played against Craig a few times and he's a great guy who you can just sit down with and talk to without any problems.

"He's very enthusiastic and he's biting at the bit to start.

"He's obviously had his experiences out in Hungary, which he was telling me about.

"It was quite scary with death threats and everything, but if he can get through that he can get through anything.

"I think he's perfect for the club for where it's going," he added.

"He's keen, he's young, enthusiastic and he's got Dave Kevan behind him, who I know is a fantastic coach.

"I just hope that the results come in, because that's what you're judged on at the end of the day."

The former left-sided player, who is training to be a football agent, hopes that Notts can gain another promotion.

"You never know what's going to happen," he said.

"Some clubs have come up into League 1 and pushed straight up into the Championship so I've got my fingers crossed that they do well.

"If Notts can go up again there's a chance of a Nottingham derby, which would be great for the city.

"Notts deserve to be higher than they are with the facilities at the club."

You can get your bets in for the season with the club's official betting partner, Coral, who are offering Notts to be promoted at odds of 13/2.
