One player that's definitely determined to impress this season is Karl Hawley.

The intelligent forward wasn't happy with his overall contribution to last term's League 2 championship winning success.

Hawley is now hoping to prove his doubters wrong by establishing himself as a first team regular.

He said: "I can't wait for it to get started, hopefully I'll do enough to get into the team and take it from there.

"That's what everyone's working towards, because nobody wants to be on the bench.

"Obviously it's the gaffer that picks the team and I've got to do everything I can to make sure that I'm in the starting-11.

"Last season wasn't great by any means for myself, but as a team it was difficult season and look what we achieved.

"Hopefully this season will be a lot smoother and hopefully we can achieve some great things here."

When asked whether his style of play is better suited to the more grounded style of football typically adopted in League 1, he said: "I would, but I don't want to make any excuses as last season wasn't great for myself.

"I did show a little bit about what I could do and hopefully the fans and everyone will see more from me."
