We Can Do It!

Posted on: Wed 04 Aug 2010

Defender Liam Chilvers believes that Notts County can do what he did with Colchester: gain promotion to the Championship.

In the 2005/06 campaign, Chilvers played an integral part in the Us' second placed finish in League 1.

And he feels that the similarities are present at Meadow Lane to those that led to success at the Colchester Community Stadium back then.

He said: "I got promoted out of this league with Colchester and we were a bit of an unfancied team at the time.

"But, we had a good set of players and looking at the players that we've got here and the situation we're in, it's quite similar.

"I think we've got players with things to prove and every player wants to play as well as they can.

"I think that everything going well, we can put a good season in and end up at the right end of the table."

Chilvers is determined to bring more silverware to the club's board room, building on the success achieved last year.

He added: "Now's the opportunity for me to come out and play as many games as I can, and try to get the team in the Championship.

"At the end of your career you want to be able to show what you've done, not just say I played football.

"It'd be nice to have another medal or trophy in there and that's what I'm aiming for."

There's a feeling of optimism lingering around Meadow Lane and a bumper crowd is expected on the opening day of the season for the match against Huddersfield.
