Defender Liam Chilvers has this afternoon completed his move to Notts County on a two-year deal.

The Official Site reported last night that the 28-year-old was to undergo a medical, which he has now passed.

Chilvers is no stranger to the club, having played nine games in the black and white stripes whilst on loan from the Gunners in the 2001/02 season.

He is delighted to be back at Meadow Lane and trained with the team for the first time this morning.

He said: "I knew the set-up and that was what made me want to come here again.

"I knew that it had the set-up to be a big club with the stand and with winning the league last year.

"It's a club that I'm coming to where they're winning things and hopefully we can continue that."

Chilvers started his career as a trainee with the Gunners and was loaned out to a number of clubs to pick up experience.

In addition to the Magpies, these included Northampton Town, KSK Beveren and Colchester United.

After impressing, he signed for Colchester permanently in 2004 and was a key member of the side that earned promotion to the Championship in 2006.

From that, Preston North End were eager to secure his services and picked him up.

He spent four years with them before re-joining Notts, where he will wear the number 14 shirt.
