Unbelievable support
League Two Golden Boot winner Lee Hughes has paid tribute to the supporters following another healthy away following at Torquay.
Around 1,500 Magpies fans made the trip to the south coast to watch the final game of an eventful, emotional and successful season.
Although the campaign was ended with a 0-0 draw in a closely fought contest between the division's two in form teams, those that travelled appeared to have a great weekend.
"The fans have been brilliant," said Hughes. "Personally with me, they have been great.
"They can see on the pitch I give 110 per cent and I have scored some goals for them, so we both win!
"To be fair, the season has been such a rollercoaster but it just feels so good, we have a great team spirit.
"The fans - over 1,500 - were unbelievable. To travel all that way and spend so much money to get there was fantastic.
"I think they had a party, we saw a few of them in the town, they took over down there.
"I'm sure they enjoyed themselves and caused no trouble. It's great for the club."
Hughes netted 30 league and three cup goals to claim the division's marksman award, which played a significant role in the team's surge to the title.
The striker is hoping for more of the same next year in League One.
He added: "It's great to have success and I hope it's as enjoyable next season.
"I think they will bring some more decent players in, which we will need in the league above to go again."
