Although disappointed by the last gasp equaliser on Monday evening, the Magpies' skipper has declared that the team are still brimming with confidence.

County moved into third place following the 2-2 draw with promotion rivals Bournemouth, maintaining a run of seven games without defeat.

John Thompson explained that they remained undeterred as they continue their pursuit of promotion to League One.

He said: "It felt like a defeat in the way because we felt we did enough to win the game.

"In reality we should have seen it out and we are disappointed we didn't.

"As defenders we want to keep clean sheets, but there are positives to take from it.

"We are now third in the league and we are pushing upwards.

"We need to get over that very quickly and get back to winning games because we are in a good position."

Thompson feels that Notts will learn from Monday's match and is confident that they have the momentum to come out of a crucial few games in close succession with positive results.

He said: "It's a great run we are on and we didn't get beat and it shows that the club is going in the right direction.

"We are looking at the bigger picture here, we have games in hand and some great games still here at Meadow Lane.

"The games away are winnable and we will be going there full of confidence."
