Corporal Magpie

Posted on: Tue 09 Mar 2010

As part of our Help for Heroes week we have interviewed former Notts County striker Phil Stant and Notts fan Dougie Pullen.

We also spoke to another County supporter, 31-year-old Leon Reeve...

Leon joined the army in 1998 after training in Winchester, before moving to Bovington in Dorset, where he completed his tank driving training.

He was then sent out to Osnabruck in Germany in 1999 for five years and completed UN Tours of Cyprus and Kosovo.

Upon his return to England, he spent time in Catterick, Aldershot and Harrogate, where he was later promoted to the rank of Corporal.

More trips followed to Iraq, Salisbury, South Wales and then Canada, but Leon has still managed to squeeze in the odd Notts game.

"In the two games I watched Notts at the Lane, we've scored ten goals so I can't complain," he declared.

"I'll miss the last few games in what has been the craziest season ever in the history of Notts County Football Club!

"I will be gutted if Notts get to Wembley in the play offs and I won't be there, though if we keep winning we won't need to go down that route again!

"I think Notts will go up in second place with Rochdale as champions and Chesterfield finishing in third place."

Leon was delighted to hear that his club is supporting the Help for Heroes charity.

"It has been very good value and I also think it's fantastic that the club is showing its support for the forces," he said.

"It's a fantastic cause and I hope Notts fans will donate kindly on the night."

Notts fans can donate money to the charity by visiting the club shop, main reception or the Supporters Club office. The total will then be added to the £522 raised at the Fans Forum last week.
