Notts County are joining forces with all 72 Football League Clubs in a united week of action to raise awareness and vital funds for Help for Heroes - The Football League's Official Charity Partner for the 2009/10 season.

Football for Heroes week will take place between March 6 and 14 allowing the whole of The Football League to show its support for the efforts of our Armed Forces.

Notts County will be holding their game against Chesterfield on February 9, 2010.

Chairman Ray Trew has called on the club's fans to give their backing to what he sees as a truly worthwhile cause.

He said: "Help for Heroes is such an important charity, I would encourage all of our fans to dig deep and show their support for this cause.

"It's all too easy for us, here in the UK, to take for granted the freedom and security that our troops are fighting for in Afghanistan and around the world."

Throughout the week there will be bucket collections for the cause in the club shop and Supporters Club office.

nottscountyfc.co.uk will also be interviewing Notts fans based in Afghanistan, as well as former striker and soldier Phil Stant.
