During his first few days in charge, new Notts boss Steve Cotterill has been getting to know everyone around Meadow Lane.

The 46-year-old has explained that it is about the whole club pulling together to ensure that success can be achieved.

Cotterill believes that every department has a role to play in ensuring that the club moves forward.

He said: "Much of this week has been spent getting my feet under the table at Notts and making sure I get to know everyone at the club.

"I think that is very important as there is a lot more to a football club than just the team so I have been meeting everyone behind the scenes here.

"There is no way that just a manager, coaching staff and team can get promotion at a club, because there are so many more people who put in a lot of hard work and make it a great atmosphere here at the club.

"I have met some very charming people here who all play valuable roles in this club's operations and I look forward to working with them even more over the coming months."

He added: "I have also spent this week getting to know our chairman Ray Trew, and our CEO James Rodwell.

"The chairman is a good man and I am looking forward to getting a good relationship going with him, as I am with James.

"James is someone I have known for a long time without ever really speaking at length to him until this week but he too is a good man who I am looking forward to working with."

Cotterill will host his first training session with the squad today (Thursday), something that he has been eagerly anticipating.

He said: "Our game on Tuesday night away at Darlington was postponed because of the weather.

"I've had a couple of days with the staff here before we got the players back in today to prepare for this Saturday's game against Hereford.

"I am looking forward to working with what is a very good group of players, some of whom I knew before I came here.

"Ade Akinbiyi is someone I managed at Burnley while I have known Lee Hughes since he was a young man at Kidderminster Harriers.

"But they are just two of an extremely talented and committed group of players we have here at Notts County and it has been great to meet and get to know everyone over the last couple of days, and I am looking forward to working with them all."

Cotterill's first game in charge of the Magpies will be this Saturday, when they take on Hereford United at Meadow Lane.

To celebrate his arrival, the match has been made Kids for a Quid.
