Two points dropped

Posted on: Thu 18 Feb 2010

Ricky Ravenhill feels that Notts did enough to take all three points from last night's 1-1 draw with Grimsby.

County had 21 efforts on goal, of which 13 were on target, though the back of the net was only found once.

Still sore from the score line, Ravenhill believes that the Magpies should have taken more than a share of the spoils and is determined to make amends on Saturday, in a six-pointer with promotion rivals Aldershot Town.

"It's two points dropped in our eyes, we've absolutely dominated the game," he said.

"The amount of chances we had in the first half, we should've put them to bed.

"It was just one of those games where we needed the second goal to kill them off but it never came."

He added: "You're always vulnerable to a counter attack and it's happened.

"We went out in the second half and tried and tried but it just wasn't happening.

"We've got to go to Aldershot on Saturday now and make it two wins out of four games."

Notts face another two long trips, first to Aldershot and then to Darlington on Tuesday.

This follows more testing journeys to Bournemouth and Fulham.

Ravenhill admitted that the travelling has taken its toll but the players are continuing to give their all.

He explained: "We're getting through it, I'm not saying it's been easy.

"We're not getting a lot of training in, jet setting all over the country, staying in more hotels than I don't know what.

"We love playing games, that's what we're here for, this is our job and we love doing it.

"We'll just get back at it on Saturday and get three points, hopefully."
