Bring the carnival home

Posted on: Wed 17 Feb 2010

Dave Kevan has urged fans to turn out in force recreate the carnival atmosphere produced at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

The travelling supporters raised the roof off the Putney Road Stand, even though the Magpies were on the receiving end of a 4-0 score line against the Premiership side.

With Notts turning their attentions to Grimsby tonight in a return to League Two action at Meadow Lane, Kevan wants the County faithful to don their black and white stripes and cheer the side on to victory.

He said: "The fans we took to Fulham were sensational and I hope that'll continue into tonight's game.

"They've been fantastic all season and have been the 12th man on many occasions.

"It means a lot to the players, they appreciate the noise that they make and it gives them a huge lift.

"I'm sure the fans will continue to back us in fine voice tonight and hopefully we can reward them with a win."

The caretaker boss is expecting another gruelling test against the Mariners, following a hard-fought battle at Blundell Park 11 days ago.

"Grimsby will be very tough opponents, they showed that when we went to their place the other week," explained Kevan.

"They got in our faces and made it difficult for us to play, and we fully expect them to do the same again at our place.

"They've picked up lately, even though they haven't managed to pick up that elusive win yet.

"We'll have to be on our game to stop them from getting something from the match, because they're scrapping for their lives down there."

Tonight's match kicks off at 7.45pm at Meadow Lane.
