Trembling reacts to accusations of 'takeover deal' collapse

Despite reports to the contrary we have not received any written offer detailing a multi-million pound investment into this football club.

Over the last few weeks we have spoken to a number of parties about investment into the football club and many have talked about investing substantial funds. Whilst I appreciate that the consortium mentioned in the media today does have access to funds at no time did we receive a written commitment, proposal or offer to inject an amount of money into this football club.

We received a proposed contract offer from this consortium and discussed in detail with two sets of lawyers. The advice from both was not to sign the contract as in their considered opinion it was not in the best interests of the football club and more to the point there was no mention of any specific investment into the Club.

I refute any allegation that we would have turned down a multi-million pound deal. We are working tirelessly to seek investment into this Club and will NOT reject a deal such as the one muted so long as it is committed to in writing. It is not unreasonable to request that any verbal offer is confirmed in writing before any contracts are signed. That is what we have requested and it would have been negligible of me to sign anything contrary to that.

I would warmly welcome a written offer of financial investment supported within the confines of a legally binding agreement.

I think highly of this consortium and their business prowess but would not and will not sign a contract that a) is not approved by our lawyers and b) does not offer a satisfactory level of investment into the football club.

We continue to pursue other options
