Announcement from City Law - lawyers for Hyat / Shafi Family Trust

Due to unprecedented media interest, the Head of the Hyat / Shafi Trust and the Independent Trustee of the Family Trust have authorized us to issue this statement on their behalf:

The Members of the Trust, headed by Sardar Hyat, are profoundly concerned at the distorted and misleading stories which have appeared in the UK Press over recent weeks in connection with the Family Trust's interest in Notts County Football Club and, in particular, by the essentially salacious nature of the intrusive enquiries into the Families' private affairs arising out of that holding. They would not wish to grace those intrusions with any substantive comment save to confirm that QADBAK and the Family Trust which owns it are wholly respectable and substantial Companies which have operated unimpeachably for many years.

Mr Sardar Hyat, as Head of Family Trust, particularly condemns any attempt to interpret their wish to continue to conduct their business affairs with discretion and privacy as in some way hallmarked by an intention to deceive the public as to the nature of the underlying interests in the Family Trust and the Companies under its ownership. The Family are well aware of the operations of QADBAK and its interest in Notts County Football Club and have never sought to conceal that interest from anyone.
