Ian: "Austria Has Been A Success"
Ian McParland has hailed Notts County's pre-season visit to Austria - for the second year running - as a 'complete success'.
County's squad fly back to the UK today and a strenuous week of pre-season training on foreign soil.
The Magpies also took in two friendly matches during the trip and the Scot today admitted: "The trip has been a success and we've got out of it just what I expected and hoped for.
"We've had two good games and the lads have got plenty of hard work in - we've almost had three sessions a day.
"They have been a real credit to the club and I can't fault them, especially after the toughest training session on Friday in the soaring heat."
Only a handful of teams from League Two have been abroad this summer - Rochdale and Shrewsbury Town to name two - and McParland believes the players are very appreciative of the fact County have been able to take advantage of the excellent facilities at their training camp in Obertruan.
"The players appreciate how lucky they are to have been able to come to Austria and use the facilities we've had at our disposal," he said.
"Preston North End were over the week before, Aberdeen were over at the same time as us and Chelsea's Academy are there next week so it goes to show higher clubs like the place.
"It is an ideal venue and I would not hesitate in taking any of my teams there for pre-season, it is perfect and massive, massive part of our pre-season.
"We've get two week's worth of work done in one week over here.
"Sometimes it can work against you if you don't have good facilities, food or sleeping quarters because it can look unprofessional.
"Fortunately we didn't get that and the lads have loved it."
