Notts County's all-time leading goalscorer Les Bradd believes the takeover by Munto Finance has provided Magpies supporters with a 'new lease of life'.

The takeover was completed yesterday afternoon and Bradd - who scored 125 League goals for County between 1967 and 1978 - believes for the first time in years the loyal Notts fans can look forward to the new season with a spring in their step.

He said: "From an ex-players point of view, I am absolutely delighted the takeover has gone through.

"With investment coming in it gives a while different outlook to Notts County Football Club.

"Over the last few years it has been a little bit too much doom and gloom, but that has all changed now.

"Everyone is buzzing and I spoke to two fans this morning who for the first time in quite a few years are really excited about the season and the future."

Bradd also sees no reason at all why Notts can't reach the Championship in the next five years.

"With the investment coming in it gives Notts a better chance to compete and I'm pleased for Charlie (Ian McParland) because he has worked hard over the last two years to steady the ship," he said.

"Now I am sure he will be looking to kick on and he will be working hard to get the right players in to take Notts forwards.

"Over the last few years we have seen teams like Peterborough and MK Dons rise through the Leagues and there is no reason why Notts can't do the same."
