Notts County boss Ian McParland this morning revealed his delight that the takeover of club was finally completed yesterday.

Munto Finance completed their acquisition of the Magpies yesterday afternoon, starting a new era for the world's oldest football league club.

The Magpies boss is currently in Austria with the County squad in preparation for the new season.

He received the news via a phone-call yesterday afternoon and is looking forward to a bright future at Meadow Lane.

He said: "I've gone on record before about the takeover about how great news it is, but it really is terrific for everyone connected with the club and I hope it brings some stability to the place.

"It is ready to take off now. A lot of hard work has gone on behind the scenes in the last two years on the football side getting ready for a moment like this.

"I've worked very closely with Peter Trembling over the last few weeks and got an insight into their plans for the future, and it is very exciting as I am sure the fans are fully aware from yesterday's statement.

"The fans must be delighted, and I am really happy for them because the last few years have been hard for them.

"I just hope now we can give them something to shout in the near future because we all want success for this great football club."

With the takeover completed, McParland now his sights on recruiting more players in time for the new season.

He said: "Our squad is too thin at the moment.

"On Monday we had thirteen outfield players in our pre-season game, taking our trialists out the equation.

"We are still working on other targets despite the fact I am away and I am in constant contact with Peter at the club."
