Thompson Confirmed As Captain

John Thompson will be Notts County's Captain for the new season, Manager Ian McParland has revealed today.
The Irishman wore the armband towards the back end of last season, taking over the role which was occupied by Mike Edwards in the early part of the campaign.
Thompson impressed during a loan spell from Oldham Athletic last autumn which was turned into a permanent transfer in January 2009.
Despite performing well in central midfield last term Thompson's is more at home at the heart of the defence, a position McParland has revealed the former Oldham Athletic and Nottingham Forest player will occupy next season.
"John Thompson will be my Captain next season," said McParland.
"That has been decided and John will be wearing the armband.
"He did a great job for me during the back-end of last season and he has a very important role to play."
