Notts County boss Ian McParland confirmed today that Ben Davies, Shrewsbury's highly-rated midfielder, is on his lengthy list of transfer targets.

McParland has denied national newspaper reports that he has made a "lucrative offer" to the 28-year-old former Chester City star.

But he added: "Ben's a talented player who would offer something different in midfield to what we already have and I've spoken to his agent to register our interest.

"In fairness, I've spoken to a lot of agents about a lot of players in the past couple of months and Ben Davies is just one of those. As things stand, we haven't gone beyond that … but you never know what the future might hold."

Davies played a key role in Shrewsbury's charge into the Playoffs last season, scoring 12 League goals.
