Matt Hamshaw is craving success at Meadow Lane, and the winger has demonstrated his desire but admitting he would have happily swapped his Player of the Season Award for a much more successful campaign.

The right-winger was confirmed as County's star performer by the fans towards the end of the 08/09 season, which saw Notts finish the season in nineteenth place.

Despite being honoured to claim the award and be listed amongst the likes of Don Masson, Les Bradd and many other legends from the past Hamshaw has revealed he would have swapped all of that to have been in the top seven come May.

"It was a nice season personally but believe me I'd have swapped winning the Supporters Player of the Year Award for a more successful campaign," said the wing-wizard.

"Nobody can hide behind the fact we had a disappointing season, but the beauty of football is that now the door has closed on one season another one opens.

"Next season is a new start and the Gaffer has got rid of a lot of players so it looks like we'll have an influx of people coming in."

The former Sheffield Wednesday and Mansfield Town player is already looking forward to getting his teeth into next term when pre-season training commences in July.

"I'm looking forward to coming in for next season already, I was ready to go again as soon as the season finished," he said.
