Thompson Calls For Stronger Mentality

Posted on: Thu 30 Apr 2009

John Thompson believes Notts County must be mentally tougher next season.

With just one game left in the 2008/09 season - at Wycombe Wanderers on Saturday - Thompson believes that County must show their battling qualities better in order to pick up results next time around.

The County Captain feels the ability of the squad is not in question and hopes the experiences learnt this season will stand County in better stead in 2009/10.

"I think we need to be mentally a bit tougher next season because at times we have probably been out-battled in certain games," he said.

"We're not a million miles off where we should be and if you look at our squad it stands up to most in this League.

"It isn't the ability - it is possibly something inside of us to grind out results.

"We haven't been able to do that this year but hopefully we will learn from this."
