Jonno Thanks County Fans
Michael Johnson has thanked the Notts County fans for the emotional send-off he received on Saturday.
The popular defender is hanging up his boots this weekend after a long and successful career in the game.
His appearance in the 3-0 defeat against Dagenham & Redbridge was his last at Meadow Lane.
When he was replaced by Stephen Hunt fifteen minutes from time Johnson was given a standing ovation from all County fans - a moment Johnson won't forget for the rest of his life.
"It was a very emotional moment which will live me forever," he said.
"To get a standing ovation from the Magpies faithful like that was very special.
"It was even sweeter after the performance - and season - like this one.
"It was the highlight of the day for me, which was an emotional day from start to finish.
"I had so many text messages from fans and players up and down the country before the game, from the Premiership right down to the bottom levels.
"This is a season everyone wants to see the back of and hopefully it will be a better one next year."
Johnson has just one week left as a professional footballer and could feature against Wycombe Wanderers this weekend, although he feels Hunt may get the chance to start and prove his worth to Manager Ian McParland.
"I've got one more week to go and I don't know if I'll get a run-out at Adams Park," he said.
"It would probably make more sense to play Stephen Hunt now, because he is chomping at the bit to play.
"He is out of contract so the Gaffer may want to look at him for next season."
