County To Face Brewers Next Term

Posted on: Tue 28 Apr 2009

Notts County will have a local derby with Burton Albion to look forward to next season, after the Brewers' promotion to the Football League yesterday.

Burton were confirmed as Blue Square Premier Champions despite their 2-1 defeat at Torquay United after Cambridge United's failure to beat Altrincham.

Former County duo Michael Simpson and Saul Deeney - both graduates of the youth system at Meadow Lane - were in the starting line-up to celebrate the Brewers' promotion while another former youth team player in Shaun Harrad has played a pivotal role in their promotion but was suspended for yesterday's game.

Cambridge will contest the Blue Square Premier Playoffs along with Torquay, Histon and Stevenage Borough for a place alongside Burton in League Two next season.

Congratulations to all at Burton Albion and we look forward to welcoming them to Meadow Lane next season.
